Who We Are

The Violence Intervention & Treatment program (VITP) at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is a leading advocate for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors in the community.

Those who come to Wyckoff’s VITP often arrive in crisis, but leave with a new sense of hope and renewal. We provide FREE, confidential, trauma-informed services.

Sexual Assault

If you are sexually assaulted and in immediate danger, please call 911.

We encourage survivors to seek medical attention. Sexual assault can result in bodily injuries, pregnancy, and/or sexually transmitted diseases.

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is available to help you if you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault.

  1. You will be asked to consent to a forensic exam (often referred to as a rape kit). It is optional.
  2. The exam should occur within 120 hours of the assault.
  3. The exam is free through New York State Office of Victim Services (www.ovs.ny.gov).
  4. Even if you do not wish to file a police report immediately, the evidence will be maintained for 20 years, in case you choose to file a report at a later date. Reporting is also optional.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a repetitive pattern of behaviors to maintain power and control over an intimate partner.

Simply put, domestic violence is ABUSE!

This abuse may include the use of physical and sexual violence, threats and intimidation, emotional abuse, and economic deprivation.

Domestic violence doesn’t look the same in every relationship because every relationship is different. However, one thing most abusive relationships have in common is that the abusive partner does many things to maintain power and control over their partners.
